I can give you a poem
A poem to soothe the pain
A moment to digest reality
A line to scream out “unfair!”
I can hold you tight with words and affirmations
Strong enough to heal your wounds
Yet gentle and patient with time
For as long as needed
I shower your cheeks with warm tears
To remind you you still exist
The deeper the cut,
The higher the recovery
I have a million thoughts choking me
And the power to speak my truth
Put it out for the world to know
I am here!
I am the center of my story
I am the penholder
I am the narrator
I am the ending.
I never lost myself in you
I always find a way back to me
I have trust in me
And all I can achieve.
I write this poem to deconstruct my brain
I read these words so my ears can hear it
I follow my own voice
And it says “you’ll be alright”
